“I have to admit I am a sucker for zombies, vampires and the twists and turns workings of the mind of George Romero. So, when offered the opportunity to take a look at Tropisounds’ Horror Cam I hungrily lunged at the chance to sink my teeth into it (pun intended!). While entertaining and satisfying for a short time, however, I quickly found the app to leave me hungry for a bit more.
Basically, Horror Cam is a photo editing app with a macabre twist. You can take or upload a photo and them apply as number of horror genre filters to alter the reality a bit and create some interesting images that can be posted to FaceBook or sent to family and friends. These filters include Grindhouse, Infection, Serial Killer, Fungus, Demon – you get the picture. Serial Killer is one of my favorites, since you can create images that are similar to blood and gore movie posters – not the type you’d want to cut and paste all over your social pages if you are planning something illegal, but entertaining and fun.
Problem is, the fun runs out fast when you cycle through all the filters. Good news, though. You can download more filters from the Horror Cam Store, although it will cost you $.99 for each new set. One of these is Horror Clowns, which might be kind of disturbing to those of us who really don’t see the humor behind the makeup. Not me, of course, unless it is dark and stormy and very late at night.”
