How We Judge

Every app that’s entered will receive a summary box with a try it now or download button. Apps can run on any platform and be created for either a smartphone or tablet. Applicants can link to a video of their app in action.

By December 9, 2011, we will start winnowing the apps to 25 finalists. This will be done with a combination of online comments, download activity and judges input. The judges are all leaders in the apps field.

By December 19, 2011, the 25 finalists will be winnowed down to 10. The final ten will appear on-stage live at the Mobile Apps Showdown.

All applicants can showcase their apps on a table in the Mobile Apps Showdown Room at no extra charge, or, for a charge they can be exhibited on the show floor’s Wall of Apps.

Two winners will be chosen from the top ten. The first is based on an online vote. The second is based on audience input at CES during the Mobile Apps Showdown.

The Mobile Apps Showdown is a fast-paced contest where you're asked to weigh in on the apps you think have what it takes to make it. For the months leading up to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) we'll be presenting the contestants to you. You can try them, watch demos, make your feelings known, and ultimately vote on a winner. We're platform agnostic, so if it's mobile it's in the competition.

The top ten apps will join us at CES 2012 for an action packed event hosted by Jon Hein and Gary Dell'Abate from the Howard Stern Show.
