JUDGES REVIEW
A whole slew of rivals are starting to take on Web and video conferencing mainstays like WebEx and GoToMeeting. iMeet is one of them. The folks at iMeet say they conceived the service on the Web and on the tablet — they have an almost identical look and feel — by working with an anthropologist to determine the human factors than make for a productive personal meeting. And it shows. The interface does have a warm feel to it. But it not just the way iMeet looks. It’s the way it works, too. Like other similar services, iMeet has eliminated the need to take the inconvenient extra steps of downloading and launching a client side app to connect. iMeet takes it that capability a step further. It allows people to conduct at hoc meetings; you can stop by someone’s iMeet “room” in the same way you could just stop at their office door. No scheduling. No trading of keys or connect numbers. Just one click and you’re in. When I had a some questions about the app, that’s just what I with a iMeet exec. Because iMeet’s parent company, PGi, has been in the voice conferencing business for more than 20 years the video and voice connections are superbly reliable.
