SwiftKey is the Swami of Text Completion
Developer’s Description: We all know you type much faster with word completion, where your smartphone decides what it thinks you’re thinking. SwiftKey claims to be the fastest and most intelligent of the bunch. It actually learns about what you type and its predictions get better and more personalized as you use the app. Plus it’s multilingual and can predict the next word you might be typing based on the last. Some of the alpha testers had comments like “the thing reads my mind.” You can watch a demo at http://www.youtube.com/SwiftKeyApp.
Cost: 31-day free trial and then $3.99
Pro: Amazing word prediction, excellent (and multiple) keyboard layouts, gestures for deleting words, multi-language support.
Con: Takes time to learn your writing style, can lag, not very unique (looks like HTC Sense Keyboard), lacks a light/dark color option.
Why it’s a Finalist: SwiftKey uses artificial intelligence to learn and predict what you’re about to type using what they call fluency. After using SwiftKey for a few weeks, I’m almost writing complete sentences using just the prediction ribbon. Overall SwiftKey is a great replacement for the standard Android keyboard and the prediction is second to no other. There are plenty of competitors in the Android keyboard market and SwiftKey is one of the best, mainly because if its prediction engine.
