Developer’s Description: Heckerty is a zany, 409-year-old, upside-down-on-her-broomstick, green-faced witch. Happy, hilarious, helpful - Heckerty enchants and educates kids everywhere.

Bored in the car? Fidgety in the bank? Fractious in line for the TSA? Let your kids tune into Heckerty’s adventures and while they laugh at her mad antics and help her put things right, they learn words, vocabulary and spelling while their little fingers learn precision and coordination.

Love From Heckerty is designed for iOS, Android and Amazon Fire. Rich and interactive, kids follow Heckerty and her cat, Zanzibar, to magical places filled with stories, games, puzzles, as well as dinosaurs, wizards and dozens of cousins.

From Broomstick Productions Inc, Heckerty is the creation of Britain’s Royal story-teller, and comes from a long, literary heritage of wizards and witches. She may have a green face but her heart is pure gold.

I love Heckerty — I first heard one of the Heckerty stories over 10 years ago, and I’ve been waiting for more ever since. Can’t wait to buy this app for my grandkids! Ann Rachlin’s stories are truly “royal” and amazingly captivating, and this app is exactly what we need to help raise the next generation of imaginative, creative, literate kids who understand both the power of technology and the beauty of language and stories that matter.

I just love Heckerty - a great idea to get reading by making it fun. My 5 year old daughter who is even more computer literate than me loves the demo and can’t wait for the app to become available. This is the way of the future!

With love from Heckerty is perfect for all the chidren I know. It is a mixture of zany humour and a brilliant teaching tool for young children. I will be sending it to all my grandchildren.

Heckerty’s entrance into the 21st century brings smiles, giggles and laughter to all her little friends. That’s good for a start! Kids love her blundering efforts to help put things right. But Heckerty does so much more than make them laugh. And now as an App, she is emerging as a wonderful tool that will encourage even the youngest children to learn and explore while following their favourite zany friend from one colourful adventure to the next. Education through Entertainment! Love from Heckerty App is the way for today’s kids to Learn whilst Laughing. There is no better way!

It is great to see that Heckerty is still up there - high in the popularity charts - even if she does fly upside down! Through her zany humour she provides children with a super learning opportunity which is cleverly inter-woven with laughter and fun for kids of all ages. Heckerty - I salute you. May you continue to be of much needed service to humanity for another 409 years. You ARE a Star!

“Learn by laughing,” what a marvelous concept! It’s been a real joy to follow Heckery progress through the years, and now, as a mobile app, she will be available to a much broader audience. Can’t wait to share with my grandchildren!

About

MOBILE APPS SHOWDOWN

spacer

The Mobile Apps Showdown is a fast-paced contest where you're asked to weigh in on the apps you think have what it takes to make it. For the months leading up to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) we'll be presenting the contestants to you. You can try them, watch demos, make your feelings known, and ultimately vote on a winner. We're platform agnostic, so if it's mobile it's in the competition.

spacer

The top ten apps will join us at CES 2012 for an action packed event hosted by Jon Hein and Gary Dell'Abate from the Howard Stern Show.

spacer

Robin Raskin, creator of the Mobile Apps Showdown, will be there to emcee events.

spacer

By the end of this year more than 7 billion apps will have been downloaded. Only you know which ones are the keepers.
