Developer’s Description: We live in a society where food has become more chemistry than biology. INRFOOD aims to shift society’s attention on the way food is viewed. We focus on ingredients rather than just nutrition facts. Consumers are often confronted with ingredients that they have never heard of and can’t even pronounce. Working with a team of dieticians, nutritionists, and the people next door we created a platform for all these ingredients to be defined.

INRFOOD allows you to scan a product and color-code ingredients to determine whether they should be avoided, consumed in moderation, or if they are nutritious. It also flags medical and cultural alerts for ingredients that may not be suitable for individuals who have allergies, are pregnant, kosher, halal, vegetarian, vegan and more. Each of our 40,000 ingredients are fully researched and defined. INRFOOD also tracks and provides analytics to the frequency of consumption of said ingredients.

JUDGE’S REMARKS

Do you wonder what’s in your food? Do you wonder what the words in the ingredients list mean? INRFOOD gives you details and research on it and makes it easy. You can keep track of what you have eaten and research foods before you eat them. INRFOOD has constructed a huge database of foods, their ingredients and the research behind them. The full product costs $2.99.

Best Part: You can use the phone to scan a bar code from the app and INRFOOD tells you all there is to say about the product.

Needs Work: As the company themselves says, the database is incomplete, but should be ready soon. Until then it’s difficult to get a complete picture on the product, but if you are concerned about your food this is a product to keep on your radar.

I am a beta tester for InRfood. The simplistic design and ease of use are readily apparent at your first glance. What is interesting is the intelligence in the analysis that this system as to offer when it comes to your nutrition. It is amazing the number of foods and ingredients that are available in this analysis.
I will bet that once this system is released, it will be the benchmark for all nutrition systems of the future.

The goal & execution of INRFOOD App is quite remarkable & intelligent. The creative format, colors & symbols make deciphering the complex food product labeling fun & informative. (kids may like it too!)
I am striving daily to make smart food choices that are siutable for me as well as for my family member with Type 1 diabetes. This App will be an eye-opener for those who never read food labels & to those who do, but need more interpretation. It’s the details of clinically-backed data (not diet fads or trends) that give us the KNOWLEDGE we need to keep us on track. Thanks for creating something so useful.

I completely agree with Don. I have been lucky enough to see the APP before it launches this month and it is truly the way of the future. There is not another APP out there that is this complete, this easy to use, this personal and this technologically advanced. It is detailed enough for the most hard-core foodie and simple enough to use for your buddy next door that just wants to make sure his kids are eating right for football season. in one word - AMAZING!!

INRFOOD has really opened my eyes to all the ingredients that make up some of my favorite foods. As a vegetarian it was quite shocking to learn what Gelatin is and where it comes from. Let’s just say I don’t eat Jell-O anymore. For a long time I’ve been reading nutrition facts and never could understand the chemicals that make up the ingredients portion. With INRFOOD I have an easy method to simply scan and keep track of these ingredients. It’s empowered me to be more knowledgeable and see nutrition in a whole new light.

the team at INRFOOD is extremely talented and capable. many companies can make an app, but to be successful you need to truly be passionate about what you’re doing. INRFOOD has this and i can’t wait to see them shine in the future!

MOBILE APPS SHOWDOWN

spacer

The Mobile Apps Showdown is a fast-paced contest where you're asked to weigh in on the apps you think have what it takes to make it. For the months leading up to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) we'll be presenting the contestants to you. You can try them, watch demos, make your feelings known, and ultimately vote on a winner. We're platform agnostic, so if it's mobile it's in the competition.

The top ten apps will join us at CES 2012 for an action packed event hosted by Jon Hein and Gary Dell'Abate from the Howard Stern Show.

spacer

Robin Raskin, creator of the Mobile Apps Showdown, will be there to emcee events.

By the end of this year more than 7 billion apps will have been downloaded. Only you know which ones are the keepers.
