Developer’s Description: The CRR is an educational tool that assists parents and coaches in recognizing the signs and symptoms of a concussion. Other features include home symptom monitoring, guidance for return to play, ACE Post-concussion Home/School instructions, and FAQs about concussions. The app was authored by Dr. Gerard Gioia from Childrens National Medical Center and Jason Mihalik from Matthew Gfeller TBI Research Center at UNC. Utilizing the CDC’s list of signs and symptoms from the Heads Up program, the app provides parents and coaches with useful tools that assist with concussion recognition and treatment. Current PARtners include Xenith, Childrens National Medical Center, Safe Kids USA, Matthew Gfeller TBI Research Center, and Youth Football Coaches Association. The CRR is unique because proceeds from app sales are donated to concussion research and de-identified incident data will be used to further concussion research.
