Developer’s Description: OfficeDrop’s iPhone app turns the smartphone’s camera into a scanner, allowing users to scan paper documents directly to the cloud. Once an item is scanned, users can browse the document, apply labels, search text using OfficeDrop’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, share and access documents from anywhere with OfficeDrop’s cloud filing cabinet. Businesses can use the OfficeDrop iPhone app to make it easier to capture and share documents on the road. Individuals can use the app to store important paper documents like tax returns, invoices and business receipts, safeguarding against loss and ensuring that they are able to access the documents from anywhere at any time. Once in the cloud, users can also sync their documents with popular cloud storage programs like Evernote, Google Docs and even Gmail, so that their paper documents can be stored right alongside digital documents. I use OfficeDrop to track receipts, etc. for expense reports. It’s a great, easy-to-use tool!

I worry about OfficeDrop’s security. How do I know where my paper is going and who is handling it? More physical transparency is necessary for this to succeed.

About

MOBILE APPS SHOWDOWN

spacer

The Mobile Apps Showdown is a fast-paced contest where you're asked to weigh in on the apps you think have what it takes to make it. For the months leading up to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) we'll be presenting the contestants to you. You can try them, watch demos, make your feelings known, and ultimately vote on a winner. We're platform agnostic, so if it's mobile it's in the competition.

The top ten apps will join us at CES 2012 for an action packed event hosted by Jon Hein and Gary Dell'Abate from the Howard Stern Show.

spacer

Robin Raskin, creator of the Mobile Apps Showdown, will be there to emcee events.

spacer

By the end of this year more than 7 billion apps will have been downloaded. Only you know which ones are the keepers.
