New York (PRWEB) April 04, 2012
Living in Digital Times, the leading producer of lifestyle technology summits and events, is excited to announce the Mobile Apps Showdown NYC Competition during CE Week, June 25-29, 2012 in NYC. Leading up to the panel, visitors to CE Week will also be able to check out the Wall of Apps, a hands-on, curated display of the best apps available for iOS, Android, Blackberry and the new Windows Mobile.
The Mobile Apps Showdown, a mainstay of CES Las Vegas for the past three years, brings the competition to the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building in NYC on June 27 & 28. As voted by a staff of expert judges from the mobile industry, the competition allows the people online and in the audience to make the final decision about what’s best. Additionally, the gaggle of apps on the show floor provides a great way for CE Week attendees to experience apps hands-on. Using tethered tablets and smart phones, press, industry analysts and the NY Technorati get a first-hand look at the hottest applications from those focused on entertainment and creative arts to those centered on finance and productivity.
Robin Raskin, creator of the Mobile Apps Showdown, said, ” iTunes, Google Play and the other apps stores can be a bit overwhelming as apps breed faster than rabbits. The best way to learn about an app is to touch it and feel it and that’s what the Wall of Apps and Mobile Apps Showdown lets you do.”
Mobile apps developers can enter their app at http://ceweek.mobileappsshowdown.com/apply/ from now until CE Week begins on May 13. They can also choose to be displayed on the Wall of Apps, where hundreds of visitors will experience their app.
All submitted and showcased apps will be posted on the site where visitors can watch app demos, try out the apps and voice their opinions. With the help of the Mobile Apps Showdown’s expert judges, 10 apps will be selected as finalists and go on to compete at the live event in NYC, where the audience casts the deciding vote on the best app.
This year’s judges for the Mobile Apps Showdown include: Helena Stone, Editor in Chief of ChipChick, Joanna Stern, The Verge and SBN Nation, Michael Kaufman, TechnoGorilla, Larry Seltzer, Editorial Director, Byte, Arnold Waldstein, Market and Business Strategist, Andrea Smith, ABC News.
Each year, CE Week attracts hundreds of exhibitors and press looking for the newest technology ideas and trends. Last year’s CEA Line Show saw more than 2,300 attendees, 640 media and analysts and more than 400 retailers/distributors. The Mobile Apps Showdown site gets more than 750,000 site views per competition.
The Mobile Apps Showdown has become a wildly popular event among apps enthusiasts. During CES Las Vegas 2012, the Showdown had more than 750,000 online visitors, and more than 55,000 votes casted for the top ten finalists. After all the skits, demos, and live hijinx, were complete, Magisto, a smartphone friendly video editing service, and Macaw, a health application that uses sensors to intelligently track user activity, took home top honors.
