About Patrick Houston of NetShelter Technology Media

Patrick Houston

I’m essentially an "editorial director." I've been in media longer than I'd like you to know, with close to half the time trying to wrestle media's digital revolution to the ground. I jumped to the Web as the executive producer of ZDNet News, eventually became editor-in-chief of CNET.com, and the founding GM of Yahoo! Tech. I joined NetShelter in 2008, sold on its approach of building a media company by bringing independently owned tech publishers together into a network greater than the sum of its parts.

How it works:

Mobile phone apps from any platform can enter. Our experts narrow the field to a Top 20 and then Top 10. We conduct an online vote to determine a 'people's' winner. All 20 semifinalists are invited to demonstrate their apps at the Mobile Apps Showdown stage in the North Hall during CES. The Top 10 appear before a live voting audience at CES to determine an event winner.

When: Saturday, 12:30 p.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
