Developer’s description: Clixtr turns smartphones into smartcameras by leveraging location-based technologies and the rapidly improving quality of camera phones. Clixtr users create events, upload mobile photos, and, for the first time ever, create real-time event photo streams with the users around them. Photos and events are public and can be followed live on the web or directly on mobile devices. By creating an instant, location-aware mobile photo-sharing platform, Clixtr enables real-time event browsing by location or popularity. Users can follow and contribute to events as they happen around the corner and around the world. Clixtr is the ultimate social camera. Clixtr was selected as one of the top 50 companies of 2009 by TechCrunch50 from over 1,000 companies that applied.

  • I liked the look of Clixtr handset.

Anyone can create prize-winning applications similar to Clixtr by using Twalky (http://www.twalky.com), a platform where users can build social networks/applications with real-time streams of anything (eg. places, events, people etc).

For example, TwalkyEvents is an iphone app built on top the Twalky platform such that users can locate events and its activities nearby them by using GPS/Wifi/triangulation technology.

Although the Twalky platform is in private beta for the next few weeks, some Twalky-based applications are already launched publicly eg. 2010 CES, Innovation Movement Network (prize-winning app announced at CES), TwalkyEvents etc.

"Anyone can create prize-winning applications similar to.." Anyone? Really..anyone? Right. So can you guarantee that I'll win a prize if I create on top of "Twalky?"
  • twalky
What I mean is that "Anyone can create an applications similar to Clixtr that have the potential to win prizes/awards".

We had a non-tech person that used Twalky platform to create "Innovation Movement Network" in less than a day and won second prize of US$5,000 during the 2010 CES.

Usually people that enter these competitions require highly competent tech person with many years of programming experience and development work that usually take months to implement. So, when we mean "Anyone", we mean non-techies to advance level programmers.

    Hope this is more clear.
