Developer’s description: iCurfew is an easy way for kids and parents to check in with each other remotely. Kids use iCurfew to send a link to a Google map that uses GPS to indicate their exact location. Kids can then add a message like “Running late” or “Ready to be picked up.” At the movies, at a friend’s house, or across the world, kids can stay in touch with worried parents.  Mom and Dad will worry less if the kids’ coordinates are being updated, especially since iCurfew verifies real-time location with an un-editable link

Pros: Unobtrusive.

Cons: Whatever happened to trust?

About Mobile Apps Showdown

I'm Robin Raskin, the founder of Living in Digital Times. Click to see more from me.
Our Host: Robin Raskin
...is a veteran tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times. She created the Showdown.

How it works:

Mobile phone apps from any platform can enter. Our experts narrow the field to a Top 20 and then Top 10. We conduct an online vote to determine a 'people's' winner. All 20 semifinalists are invited to demonstrate their apps at the Mobile Apps Showdown stage in the North Hall during CES. The Top 10 appear before a live voting audience at CES to determine an event winner.

When: Saturday, 12:30 p.m., Jan. 9, 2010

Where: Room N255-257, LVCC, North Hall, 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
