There are thousands of good applications for the Symbian S60 platform, but the three that are vital to my daily usage are Gravity, Handy Taskman, and Opera Mini. Gravity is the BEST application I have ever seen written for the S60 operating system and gives users access to Twitter, Facebook, and Google Reader in one of the greatest user interfaces present on Symbian devices. Symbian devices support multitasking so having a good task manager and application manager is important to aid in switching and controlling apps. The best task manager available is Handy Taskman. While the S60 browser is a good browser, it is great to have alternatives at times, especially one with a proxy server backend that speeds up downloads so that is why I like using Opera Mini on my S60 devices.

Next to Gravity, I also use Mobbler (for live audio streaming) and SpbTV (tv streaming) on a daily basis. All of these three apps have the advantage of coming with a very unique & suitable user interface and deliver content to the phone.

About

MOBILE APPS SHOWDOWN

spacer

The Mobile Apps Showdown is a fast-paced contest where you're asked to weigh in on the apps you think have what it takes to make it. For the months leading up to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) we'll be presenting the contestants to you. You can try them, watch demos, make your feelings known, and ultimately vote on a winner. We're platform agnostic, so if it's mobile it's in the competition.

The top ten apps will join us at CES 2012 for an action packed event hosted by Jon Hein and Gary Dell'Abate from the Howard Stern Show.

spacer

Robin Raskin, creator of the Mobile Apps Showdown, will be there to emcee events.

spacer

By the end of this year more than 7 billion apps will have been downloaded. Only you know which ones are the keepers.
